Little Book Lost

It is with a little sadness that I post today, after nearly an entire summer and most of fall have gone by since my last post. You see, I carry a little black book around with me everywhere in my purse. It's the place that I jot down all the cute things that the kids say, the situations they get into, and just generally stuff I don't want to forget. I have done this for the last 2 years, keeping track of things as innocuous as Jakob getting a good behavior star at school to special recipes, books to read, and the kids' heights/ weights at the doctor's office. I love my little book.

But now it is gone.

We ran the Nike marathon in San Francisco on 10/19/08, and we got to spend a few extra days in Napa Valley after the race. I was basically robbed by Hertz for the amount of money I paid for the Ford Focus we rented, and was charged $55 for being 20 minutes late returning the car, since they closed the interstate due to a semi-truck crash complete with massive fuel spill. TWENTY MINUTES, FIFTY FIVE DOLLARS. Over something I had no control over. ANYWAY, in our haste to get out of the car lest another minute cost me another hundred bucks, my little black book got left behind. We've called lost and found numerous times and no one will return our call. It is now 2 weeks later. I'm heartbroken.

However, it is a good reminder to take my little book out of my purse more often and blog its findings in the forever-enduring world of cyberspace. I miss you, little black book, and all the memories recorded that I'll never recall without you. And Hertz, I'm not real happy with you!

Oh, no! That's like losing your journal. How awful! I'm so sorry.

And Hertz, you STINK.

That's right, I said it.

Hi Heather,

I would be heartbroken if Yahoo ever crashed because it has my "mass of emails" from the past year to my friend R. and it would be similar to losing a little black book! So cyberspace makes me nervous...I hope some nice person finds your book under the seat and turns it in! Who knows, it could end up right here in our backyard!

We need to connect.

Get thee a fancy PDA/phone and record it that way... you can back it up frequently on your computer !

Sorry about your black book and very sorry about Hertz being rigid jerks !

I'm glad you are blogging again. I have a blog roll that I stalk a couple of times a week and I have def noticed you fell off the blog wagon!

That really stinks. I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging again as well, lest Riley suffer from the dreaded third child syndrome, where mommy is too tired/busy/etc. to bother!

Ok, so obviously it's March and I haven't checked your blog in a while, but I had no idea you lost the adored bb! I feel for you. Have you since found it by chance? I'm so sad we miss so much of each others day to day lives. Miss and love you!
