Little Book Lost

It is with a little sadness that I post today, after nearly an entire summer and most of fall have gone by since my last post. You see, I carry a little black book around with me everywhere in my purse. It's the place that I jot down all the cute things that the kids say, the situations they get into, and just generally stuff I don't want to forget. I have done this for the last 2 years, keeping track of things as innocuous as Jakob getting a good behavior star at school to special recipes, books to read, and the kids' heights/ weights at the doctor's office. I love my little book.

But now it is gone.

We ran the Nike marathon in San Francisco on 10/19/08, and we got to spend a few extra days in Napa Valley after the race. I was basically robbed by Hertz for the amount of money I paid for the Ford Focus we rented, and was charged $55 for being 20 minutes late returning the car, since they closed the interstate due to a semi-truck crash complete with massive fuel spill. TWENTY MINUTES, FIFTY FIVE DOLLARS. Over something I had no control over. ANYWAY, in our haste to get out of the car lest another minute cost me another hundred bucks, my little black book got left behind. We've called lost and found numerous times and no one will return our call. It is now 2 weeks later. I'm heartbroken.

However, it is a good reminder to take my little book out of my purse more often and blog its findings in the forever-enduring world of cyberspace. I miss you, little black book, and all the memories recorded that I'll never recall without you. And Hertz, I'm not real happy with you!

Mitten Man Knows it All

Jakob insisted on wearing his winter mittens to bed tonight. I snapped this a few minutes ago, and he was none the wiser. That boy can sleep through anything!
It was a bit of a rough night as we took them to Ruby Tuesday's for dinner and he kept jumping up & down on the booth cushion, and running his Spiderman car up the windows separating us from the bar area, annoying the people on the other side. He would not listen to us at all. Later, in the bathtub, he got a little crazy with throwing water around (a common issue around here) the floor and ceiling, and proceeded to tangle up the cords to the blinds above the bathtub and get the blinds all askew-- this is a BIG NO-NO, he KNOWS he is not supposed to mess with the blinds-- and Mia promptly ratted him out. As punishment he wasn't allowed to watch Spiderman & His Amazing Friends tonight before bed; he still got to watch Little Mermaid, which Mia picked, but he couldn't BELIEVE we weren't caving and letting him watch Spiderman. I rocked and sang to him a lot though this evening and we talked about behaving, but I doubt he will remember by tomorrow.
On another note, he knows his state capitals! They have been learning about different states as part of summer preschool camp, and out of nowhere late last week, he just started naming states and capitals. It is very funny to here him say "Tallahassee" and "Sacramento." He likes to joke around, as in if YOU ask him about the capitals (instead of HIM bringing it up), he will answer "Pheonix" for all of them, grinning the whole time. I love my funny boy!

Hannah Boatanna and Mamma Mia

Mia, yesterday at Target whil walking past a rack of Hannah Montana merchandise: "Oh, Mom, look-- there's Hannah Boatanna. You have to be 8 years old to get her stuff."
We haven't jumped on the Hannah Montana generated buzz-- the kids have never watched it, but I guess she's heard about it at school.
My other favorite thing she says is "Panpakes" instead of "pancakes"

Jakob-- watching a commercial for the new Mamma Mia movie-- put it all together, pointed at me, and said "mommy, it's a show about you and Mia! You're the Mamma, she's the Mia!"
Pretty slick for a 4 y/o!

My Tiny Dancer & Curious Climber

The kids were so cute tonight-- I had TIVO'd America's Got Talent from last week, & Mia watched it with me-- the last act was a guy singing "Ain't too Proud to Beg," (he was awesome), and Mia went CRAZY dancing! She was watching herself in the fireplace glass the whole time-- she made me rewind the entire song 4 times so she could keep dancing, gyrating her hips all around and making these herky-jerky moves watching her reflection. I asked her if she wanted me to dance with her, and she said, no, she was the best dancer so I should just stay on the couch. She also told me earlier that she was prettier and that my mom & I were just "OK."

Jakob, after getting his bath, got dressed in his Batman jammies and we caught him in our room, watching Spiderman, climbing almost all the way to the top of the bedpost!!! I got pictures of him doing it-- one when he didn't know I was taking it, and the other with him grinning like "You caught me!" HILARIOUS.

Sing me The You Love Me Song, Mom

-Jakob requested the "Sing me The You Love Me Song, Mommy" again tonight. He means "The More I See You." I told him I didn't know which song he meant, that he'd have to sing it for me first so I'd remember it. So he did! It was about the cutest thing ever, this little 4 y/o voice changing around all the words--
The More you see me, the more mommy loves me
Somehow this feeling just grows and grows
Whenever my mommy's lost, she is so lost without me
So sad without me, and so it goooo-oes
Can you imagine that my Mommy loves me so much
The more you see me, as years go by
You know the only one for you could only be me
Your arms won't free me
My mommy's heart won't try

Now only did he make my heart melt, I was truly amazed he remembered virtually ALL the lyrics, and also (mostly) appropriately changed all the grammar!
He got, like, 5 extra songs tonight for his cuteness. :)

Disgustamondo

My big toenail on my right foot ripped completely off last night, as I jumped up from the table to make sure Jakob wasn't going to fall off the stepstool he was climbing on.

Ouch. It actually didn't hurt that bad. It was basically dead ever since a 15K race I did back in March. I had had to drill a hole in it to relieve the pressure, and after the initial pain then (which I swear hurt more than my c-section), it hasn't bothered me. I have just kept cute shades of blue/ green/ purple nail polish on it and no one was the wiser of how gross it looked.

The only thing that hurt from it getting ripped all the way off was my feelings. Now I'm on a quest to find a pedicurist who will make me a new acrylic toenail. The sites I've read online on SpaGeek.com and a few others say it is indeed possible but that it'll have to be put on with prosthetic glue. So anyone know where I find that? I'm thinking Dermabond won't work. Hmm. Well, that'll be my online project for tonight if I ever get another break-- full house on L&D, 2 sick patients on the floor, and 4 people on Magnesium. I think I'll have my hands full!

Where's Daddy's Wii?

My twins cleaned up the family room all by themselves and let me into the room to show off their job. They did a fabulous job, just maybe a little too well...

Fred asked them, "Guys, Where's Daddy's Wii?"
"We put it away, Daddy."
"OK-- where did you put it? You know, Daddy's Wii Fit board?"
"Oh, we don't know where we put it Daddy. We forget."

World's Best Compliment

Proving my 4 y/o little boy doesn't differentiate b/t appearance all that well, he gave me the best compliment last night. I was holding him on my lap by the computer, just talking, and there was a catalog from Victoria's Secret on the desk. "Look Mommy, " he said..."There's a whole book with pictures of you!"

I laughed so hard I could barely speak as I corrected him. Oh how I WISH I looked like those models, but my little guy thinks his Mommy is pretty just the same, I guess. He got a big kiss & hug from me. :)

My little spiderman

I am going to have to replace some of the doorknobs in our house. Jake keeps hanging on them and climbing up the door--almost to the point that he is parallel to, or even higher than, the level of the doorknob. He claims he is "helping Spiderman fight crime, Mommy!" But he's about to rip to doorknobs right out of the door!

I asked him what he wants to be when he grows up. First he said he would like to be a "good pirate-- not a bad one." Then he changed his mind and said, "No, I want to be Batman. He's the best one and we need more Batmans."

Mia, when asked the same question, said "A mommy and a doctor." I asked her what kind of doctor she'd like to be, did she want to be a doctor for mommies and babies like me? "No, I think I want to be the kind of doctor who just helps all kinds of people. I can do that 'cause I'm really smart." I was so proud!

I helped Jake charge up his remote control car tonight and he sat on my lap and we just talked for the whole 20 minutes it took to charge the car. I will be sad when the day comes that he won't do that anymore.

Mia dismissed me after just 3 night-night songs tonight-- she always seems irritated when she asks for Row Row Row Your Boat-- it's like the shortest song EVER, so I usually sing it twice b/c I feel like she's getting cheated with that song. She get annoyed that I sing it twice. So tonight, as soon as I got to the ending of the first time through, she put her hand over my mouth and said, "Stop." She then proceeded to sing the whole song herself, "Row Row Row your boat, gently down the stream, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Life is but a dream-- STOP. THAT's how you're SUPPOSED to sing it, Mom. Now you can go, no more songs for you tonight." And she climbed into bed and sent me out of her room!

Little Bits of Life

So, I have found myself not really taking any time to blog at all-- this because when something happens, I feel like I need the time to sit down and really write about it, and that's time I don't have. Therefore, I'm thinking I'll just type in little blurbs here and there, one liners even, and if it makes no sense to anyone but, I guess that's OK, right?

--I am currently so sore I have to brace myself getting in and out of a chair. Did 2 personal training sessions 2 days apart, without enough time to recover, on Tues and Thurs. Being stubborn, I also did 4.5 miles of cardio on Tues after training, did 4.5 miles again on Wed, and yesterday got to the gym twice-- once in the early a.m. for training with Cathy, and then again because my kids wanted to go play in the kids area at the gym that evening. I didn't really know what to do with myself while they were playing (and they didn't want me playing with them), so I suited up and did 5 miles upstairs while they played. It's amazing to me how my legs can be in SO much pain just walking down the steps, but once I get going running or on the elliptical, I don't even feel them. Until later.

--Jake is so funny right now-- favorite show is Spirderman & His Amazing Friends, from the 70's. It's on JETIX. He has memorized the whole opening sequence and does all the moves right along with Spiderman, Firestar, and Iceman through the opening credits, complete with pretending to swing off and leap from buildings (AKA ottoman/ sofa) and pretend "running" after bad guys (AKA running in place, and doing the same arm motions as Iceman). He had be laughing so hard last night watching him do this, and he had no idea anything was even funny.

--Jake also thinks he is a knight. About 3 out of 7 nights, he has to go to sleep with his 2 plastic knight swords crossed over his chest.

-- Last night he insisted on going to sleep wearing a headlamp with a red LED light. I had to take it off him once he fell asleep so he wouldn't choke.

--Mia does not like smoothies. We discovered this after spending $4 for a kids smoothie that she begged for. She took one sip, and threw it down, announcing, "This does not taste like pink chocolate milk at ALL!" Bye bye, four bucks.

--They love watching commercials during kids' shows. Don't even think about TIVO'ing through them, or you'll have to back it all up and start over.

-- They told me PaPa took them for a walk deep in the forest, and they had to run really really fast to get away from a pack of coyotes trying to bite them. Luckily, a big green "lucky snake" saved them all and they were able to get out of the forest alive. Funny, I've never seen that forest or coyotes at my parents' house.

--I let them sleep in earlier this week when I didn't have to be at work early-- once we got going, I took them to their favorite store to pick out their own flavors of PopTarts-- Ameristop, AKA "The Pop Tart Gas Station!" As we were driving there, Jakob got very excited and started exclaiming, "Mommy, Mommy, it's God's BOAT! It's God's BOAT! Look, you're going to MISS IT!" I had no idea what he was talking about. Then, on the was back from the Pop Tart Gas Station, I saw it-- there, off the the left in the backyard of one of our more eccentric neighbors, was a kids' playhouse/swingset like thing that was probably supposed to be a pirate ship. It is a rather large wooden monstrosity that likely violates some Homeowners Association rule, but to Jakob, Mia, and even to me--- there it was--- Noah's Ark. "God lives in our nighborhood!" Mia contributed.

--Mia has a very active imagination. 2 Weekends ago, we were going to a friend's house for dinner and all going around the house getting ready to leave. Mia came into my bathroom while I was fixing my hair and told me, "Mommy, Sorry to tell you this, but I'm going to have to be late for dinner." (Yes, she is only 4 y/o but speaks very maturely like this sometimes) She explained further, with a big sigh, that "Oo Oo Aa Aa's (her monkey) family just showed up at my door-- they didn't even tell me they were coming-- and now I have to throw them a party. So I guess I'll have to be late for dinner." She was back about 10 seconds later with one of those rainsticks that make a tinkling noise, "Mom, I guess I'll have to use this for the pinata. It's a little noisy, but they'll have to use it because I got no more sticks."

TKO's and Ghosts on TV

Yesterday was truly a marathon of endurance for the kids (and us). We had TWO birthday parties to attend (at the very same place, complete with the big jumpy-jumpy blow up things and lots of candy)-- one for a little boy turning 6 (Aubrey's son, a friend of mine from HS), and the other for Dylan, a classmate of the twins at preschool. Fred & I split up the day-- I took them to party #1, he took them to party #2. In between, we took them to see Kung Fu Panda at the movie theater. (BTW, did you know it will cost a family of 4 roughly FIFTY DOLLARS to get into a matinee movie and buy enough refreshments to keep everyone in their chairs for 2 hrs? Wow.)

ANYWAY, at the second party, there was another 4 y/o boy kind of pushing Jake around. He would apparently push him and even occasionally throw a punch, cut in front of him in line, etc. Jake was getting upset and asked Fred what to do. Dealing with this kid with words apparently just wasn't going to work, in Fred's assessment. So, after so counseling and instruction from Fred, the next time this kid pushed Jake, Jake told him, "If you do that again, I'm going to punch you."

The kid pushed him again. POW!!! Jake got him square in the nose with a punch. The kids was startled, stumbled back a second, and came after Jake again with a harder push. POWPOW!!!!
Jake got him harder in the nose this time, and the kid fell down and ran off. He did not bother my Jakey again. I have to say, I am proud of my boy for sticking up for himself. I don't really think fighting is the way to solve problems, but when you've got a bully running the show and no parent around, sometimes you just gotta stick up for yourself. Go JAKE! He's little but he's mighty.

On a totally different note, Mia somehow found herself with an old B&W episode of I Love Lucy on in the background yesterday morning. She quickly declared that there were "ghost people" on TV, "since they didn't have any colors in them." WHo could blame her-- I don't think they've ever seen anything in black & white on TV!

Proof Advertising Works

My twins' favorite show right now is "Spiderman and His Amazing Friends," on Jetix, which is basically an old 70's version of Spirderman cartoons that we have found significantly less violent than the current-day versions. Speckled through what seems like every commercial break is an advertisement for some //fabulous\\ (note sarcasm) product called "Pancake Puff." Here is the link:
https://www.pancakepuff.com/spark/index.php
It is perhaps about the most unhealthy thing you could make for a snack short of fried Twinkies or something like that. The commercial totally targets kids, such that I have my 4 y/o daughter trying valiantly to convince me that she desperately needs this product. "Mommy, it's so EASY! You just have to POUR and FLIP, it's JUST THAT EASY. I want to eat those for breakfast. And brownie puffs for dinner. It will be GREAT, Mommy!"

Great! After Fred and I have gotten fit, work out all the time and actually fix vegetables for dinner every night, trying to set a good example for our kids, the Pancake Puff people are undoing it one commercial at a time.

Proof advertising works, I tell you!

Storm Quote

Jakob, in response to some thunder from a big storm tonight: "Mommy, the storm just yelled in my face."

Quote of the Day

"Mommy, if you keeping singing to me this much, I'm going to turn into a song. Please let me go to sleep."
---Mia

I guess I got carried away with the repertoire while rocking her tonight. :)

Holy Mosels!

"Holy Mosels!"-- that's the phrase Mia exclaimed yesterday in the car when describing how bright and sunny is was outside. She seems to use this phrase interchangably with "Holy Thousands!"
She seems to have picked this up somewhere over the last few days, because we were on vacation last week in Disneyworld and I never heard her say it then. She is SO funny-- she is always attributing numerical values to things in order to state emphasis.
For example:
"My tummy hurts So, SOOO bad that I can't pick up my toys. It used to just hurt nine-twelve. But now its twenty-five eight!"
or
"Mommy, Mama lives so far away. She lives twenty-nine, nine away!!!!"

I need to blog a bit about our wonderful vacation with Fred's family in Florida. We had a great time, despite the kids not being the best behaved. There's a story to tell about Mia getting a Polly Pocket doll thrown away (by me) as punishment for bad behavior. Let me just say it was very effective.

As for stories about Jake, his favorite phrase right now is "nasty and disGUSting!" He works it into a lot of conversations, even inappropriately. He has also discovered, like most boys at some point I suppose, that he thinks it is funny to pass gas as a form of entertainment. He called his PaPa over to sit next to him on the couch, then raised up his leg and let one rip and cracked up laughing. GREAT! I was hoping my little boy would rise above this, but alas, no....

More updates later-- gotta run and delivery a baby-- 4th one so far today!!!

Marathon Mommy

OK, well not quite. I'm going for a 1/2 marathon, 13.1 miles, in a mere 20 days. My training has slipped, to say the least, over the last few months-- some of it my fault due to sheer laziness, and some not my fault at all! I was in the best shape of my life in November when I ran a little 10K Turkey Trot with Fred on Thanksgiving day, and my time wasn't all that bad. Then we went on a cruise the following week, and since the cruise, I have gained 10 lbs total. THAT is my own fault-- the holidays and all that business got the best of me, and I wasn't paying as close attention to my diet and training program as I should. I got back into things in January, but in early Feb I hurt my back while picking up my 3 y/o daughter out of her toddler bed. That injury took me out of training for 2 weeks as it healed up. I got back into the swing of things at the end of Feb, but on March 5th, I slipped on the ice and fell in the doctor's parking lot at the hospital-- hello, knee injury! Out of training again for another 1.5-2 weeks. As I eased back into things, I was amazed at how much SLOWER I was for taking a few weeks off! It was some pitiful running, I tell you, especially knowing that I was coming up on a 9.3 mile "mini-marathon" on 3/30. BUT... I finished the Mini-Marathon and lived to tell about it!!!! You can see some not-so-flattering photos of me at www.runphotos.com. Let me just preface the pictures by saying I WAS wearing 4 layers of clothes, so I'm not really as pudgy as I look in some of the pictures, although I definitely was in years past! As I was saying, I finished the Mini-Marathon, and lived to tell about it....

...Aside from another injury, that is. THIS time, I caused myself severe plantar fasciitis on the lateral sides of both feet. For the next 12 days, I could not walk in any flat kind of shoes, running shoes included. The only things I have really been comfortable in are pairs of 3.5 inch heels or higher! At least that helps me keep the pressure off my lateral feet, and along with stretching and icing my feet daily, my feet are healing up pretty well.

Last night, I ran my longest run to date-- 12.5 miles! I am pretty proud, albeit VERY sore. My feet hurt really bad, and I'm in the high heels again, but the sheer knowledge that I COULD DO IT has gotten me through the pain. And yes, there has been pain...I had to wear open toed 4 inch sandals to work today-- I started out in lower, closed toed shoes, but by the time I neared the end of the neighborhood from dropping the kids off at daycare, the sheer misery of the tips of my toes touching my shoes made me turn around, drive home, and pull out the sandals. In 35 degree weather. I did burn 1400 calories on my run though! What I could NOT do was tolerate a full ice bath for my legs when I got home. All the running sites swear it will do wonders for injured legs/ feet, but I made it for about 2 minutes before pulling my legs out, cursing, & vowing to never do that again!!!! I'm sure I was quite a sight-- looking like I was going to pass out, but ultimately stuffing Hello Kitty and Spiderman icepacks into my socks to at least ice the bottoms of my feet (to get the fascia).

I know this must be a RIVETING post, but I want to be able to look back at it one day and remind myself that I did all this and it was actually worth it! Flying Pig 1/2 Marathon, here I come! I got in my long run, and even if I have to run it in heels (haha-- it's been suggestedby more than a few!), I know I can do it now! Wish me luck!

Staples in my pants & Literal Translations

Oh, my kids are so funny. Yesterday, we were running around town doing errands before taking them to gymnastics. It was just me and the twins, and Daddy was still at work and planning to meet us at Panera for dinner. He was held up at a meeting, and after discussing it by cell phone, we determined that he would be unable to make it to dinner. The kids asked where Daddy was, & I explained he was "stuck at work and won't be coming to dinner."

"Oh, NOOO!" Jakob exclaimed. "If he is all stuck inside, we have to go get a policeman to unlock his building and get him OUT!"

"Well, that's not it, honey," I tried to explain. "He's not locked inside, he's just in a meeting and can't get away right now."

"Does his car not work anymore?" Mia asked.

Jakob offered, "I'm really strong Mommy, I can push his car."

They are just so sweet sometimes I can't stand it. I forget sometimes how LITERAL 3 year olds are!!!

On another note, it has been raining cats and dogs here for what seems like weeks on end. It was coming down really hard today, and while getting everyone out of the car today and into preschool/ daycare, I stepped on my overly-long hems with my heels, in a puddle, and ripped them BOTH out of my slacks. It was way too late to go home and change. I ended up trying to tape them with electrical tape at work (miserable failure), and ultimately had to STAPLE up the cuffs of the pants so they didn't drag on the floor when I walked. I was pretty self conscious all day, wondering what my patients were thinking, but alas, most of the women who come to see me are moms themselves and have had days like this too, I suppose....my hair was also soaking wet (along with the rest of me) by the time I got to work, so I looked like a real winner.

Well, off to finish my DVR's American Idol. We just got the kids off to bed and I have a few moments to myself!

Night and Day, It's a Great One

This has just been a wonderful day so far-- just wanted to blog about it. It doesn't take much to make me happy sometimes. I was post-call today, so had the day off. I started out the morning with a facial that I've had scheduled for quite some time-- it was awesome. Then I stopped by the Carter's store and got some baby gifts for our friend Susan's new 1 week-old baby, Riley. I had a working lunch out at a New Orleans restaurant owned by some very authentic New Orleans folks who were displaced by Katrina, and moved up North and started the restaurant. We met with a few of my doctor partners and a nurse from the hospital about starting a new preterm labor prevention program at the hospital-- a cause I feel particularly committed to, being the mommy of a pair of twins who were 9.5 weeks early. I really feel like we can help make a difference with this program, and it will literally cost the hospital nothing-- I am excited to get started on it. Then I was off to visit with Susan and her new baby for a few hours.

On the way home, I stopped at this great outdoor shopping center and donated money to the meter and made my way into one of the largest bookstores in our area. My purpose was to get my hands on a copy of a Jay Jay the Jet Plane book, which my son has FALLEN IN LOVE with, since he checked it out of his preschool's library 2 weeks ago. He has been faithfully reading Jay Jay every day, and had even taken to sleeping with the book. He had to return it today, so I vowed to come home with a copy for him. No such luck. The clerk informed me that Jay Jay is now out of print. I tried to explain to him how much Jakob loves this book, and that I really, really need it, but somehow he was unable to make it magically materialize in his store after my sob story. So I made my way out of the bookstore and across the Green to Victoria's Secret. Now for those of you who know me, I have lost a lot of weight in the past year. I love wearing all the cute clothes now. The one problem is that even though I have shrunk down everywhere else, my bust just won't budge. Try finding normal sized underclothes in a DD cup, and just watch the salespeople look at you with pity like you have a real problem. But I hit the jackpot at the VC store today, and found so many cute bras in my size on sale. No cute lingerie though-- apparently, they don't make anything in anything more than a C cup.
It was a virutal blizzard by the time I left, and it took me twice as long to get home. No problem, though, I had a few pre-op H&P's to dictate for upcoming surgeries, so I did that in the car as we all crawled along the interstate at 30 mph.
When I got home, I actually MADE DINNER for my family. I am NOT known as a cook. Most of the time, in fact, I HATE cooking. But I made a New Year;s resolution to try and be more interested, both from a cost savings and health benefits standpoint. Granted, I made a boxed dinner-- Polenta with Chicken Marinara-- but I will brag that I made it all by myself and I didn't ruin anything (trust me, this is an accomplishment to brag about in my case!). To top that off, I came home to a wonderfully CLEAN HOUSE!!! (We recently hired my wonderful mom to clean our home, after years of getting ripped off by a cleaning service-- who in the world coul clean your home better than your MOM???? I'm in HEAVEN)
We ate dinner as a family, at the actual TABLE, and the kids LOVED their dinners, and even set the table and cleaned up their plates afterward. It was hilarious, BTW, watching Jakob put his plate in the dishwasher. We tried to explain, "No, not in the sink, Jakey-- put in in the dishwasher,"--- so he flung it in there like a frisbee. "There you go, mommy!" he said proudly! He takes things so literally at 3 y/o!
Fred gave them baths and I went down to the tradmill and ran 5.2 miles. I am quite proud of my distance tonight. Especially after being a total slacker for a few weeks, I'm feeling like I'm getting back on track with my training schedule.
I got to sing to Jake tonight, which was a treat since he's been a total Daddy's boy for the last 5 days. His night-night song routine lately is typically:
1. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
2. Fly Me to the Moon
3. Swing Low Sweet Chariot
4. The Very Thought of You
5. The More I See You
and 6. Take me out to the Ballgame, complete with choreography.
I got to rock Mia to sleep too-- she likes primarily Disney Princess songs, mixed in with a few others:
1. "Snow White, both kinds" (AKA "Someday My Prince Will Come" and "I'm Wishing"
2. "Cinderella" (AKA "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes")
3. "Belle" (AKA "Beauty and the Beast")
4. "Ariel" (AKA "Part of That World")
5. Row Row Row Your Boat
6. ABC's

So, that's pretty much wraps up the day. It is snowing like crazy outside and I have 4 hysterectomies to do tomorrow-- it should be interesting trying to get there for a 0730 start!

Hi Everyone!

I have been keeping my blog on xanga.com (http://www.xanga.com/hilkoh) , the last several years but am going to move it over to blogspot to be with the google masses.

I am a mom of soon to be 4 y/o boy/girl twins, and in my spare time (haha!) work full time as an OBGYN doctor.

I have a wonderful husband who is a fantastic dad to our little ones, and a great support net of grandparents who live nearby and in Philadelphia; we simply could not do it all without them all!

I love my job, but will probably blog most about daily life as a mom, a girly-girl, and as an emerging runner. I love my babies more than anything in the world, but I still struggle with some things other moms excel at-- daily routines, getting the laundry done, remembering when bath night is, and trying to be interested in cooking at home rather than going out to eat all the time. As a surgeon, the girly-girl thing really throws people for a loop-- I operate in high heels (because I feel like a BOY wearing clunky flats), wear makeup, and bring my purse into the OR with me. I look a little young for my age, so many times people don't think I am the surgeon, which really surprises my patients' families-- I get the "Are you OLD ENOUGH to be DOING THIS???" question at least twice a month. I used to get my feelings hurt, but after turning 34 this past year, now I consider it a compliment. I started running almost a year ago and it has become a fun, healthy new hobby for my husband and me. We are training for a full (him) and half marathon (me) in May 2008. A year ago I wouldn't have WALKED a mile, nevermind signing up to run 13.1 miles! (And in case you're wondering, yes, I still did my hair and wore makeup to the last race I ran)

Stop back and hopefully I will carve out some time to blog!
